From the keyboardto the decision.

Business consultancy and software and IT services from Zach Lualhati: deciding what should happen, then building what makes it happen.

The idea

Most problems are business and technical.

A process that eats a day a week is a business problem with a software answer. A system nobody uses is a software problem with a business cause. Most of what an organisation calls a technology problem, or a strategy problem, turns out to be some of each.

Zach works across both, and checks afterwards whether the change did what it was meant to.

Services

Two practices, one person. Many problems need both.

A

Business consultancy

Deciding what to do, in what order, and how to tell whether it worked.

  1. A.1

    Strategy and planning

Where the organisation is trying to go, what stands in the way, and a sequenced plan written plainly enough to act on.

  2. A.2

    Operations and process

How work actually moves through the business, where it stalls, and what to change first.

  3. A.3

    Business development

Client relationships, proposals and account structure, from someone who has worked the client side of the table.

  4. A.4

    Feasibility and decisions

Testing an idea against the evidence before money is spent on it. Sometimes the answer is not yet.

B

Software & IT

Building, connecting and looking after the systems the plan depends on.

  1. B.1

    Websites and custom software

Sites, internal tools and applications, built to fit the work rather than the other way around.

  2. B.2

    Integration and automation

Connecting the tools an organisation already pays for, and automating the manual steps between them.

  3. B.3

    IT setup and support

Devices, accounts, email, backups and access, set up properly and written down.

  4. B.4

    Technical project management

Scoping, choosing vendors, and keeping a build connected to the outcome it was meant to serve.

Approach

How an engagement runs.

  1. 01

    Conversation

A first conversation about the problem, and a straight answer about whether Zach is the right person for it.

  2. 02

    Scope

A written scope before any work starts: what will be done, what will not, what it costs, and how the result will be judged.

  3. 03

    Work

Delivered in stages, each one shown working before the next begins.

  4. 04

    Handover

Documentation and access handed over in full, so the organisation can run what was built without him.

Sometimes the right answeris don’t build it.

Inside Amolira, the market terminal Zach and Richard P. Campion built refuses to call an edge until the evidence clears the bar, and otherwise prints NO EDGE DETECTED. Client work runs on the same rule. If the evidence says a project should not go ahead, the recommendation says so, before the money is spent.

Background

What the advice is built on.

  1. RTM Group

Software support, then junior technical project management, then account and business development. The technical side and the commercial side of the same company, from the inside.

  2. Queensland State Emergency Service

Leading Field Operator. Deployed for Tropical Cyclones Jasper, Kirrily and Alfred. Deciding quickly, with incomplete information, alongside people he trusts.

  3. In progress

    University of the Sunshine Coast

A dual master’s: MBA and Master of International Business.

  4. Amolira Pty. Ltd.

A private company Zach founded in Brisbane, with Richard P. Campion as co-founder and chief technology officer. Together they built Nexus, a market terminal written from scratch, with a public page a reader can check.

Limits

What this is not.

  • Investment, trading or financial product advice, of any kind.
  • Legal, tax or accounting advice. Where a question needs one of those, it needs someone licensed to give it.
  • Work done through Amolira. Amolira has no clients and sells nothing. This practice is Zach’s own, and separate from it.

Enquiries

A few sentences are enough: the organisation, the problem, and when it needs solving.
